BUFF MONSTER AND ECONOMIC TERRORISM

So this is quite an interesting story, it seems. If any of you are following the current toy scene and are familiar with Buff Monster, you may or may not have come across the following tweet a day or two back…

For most, including myself, was a little taken back by the bitter-sweet predicament of the situation, but naturally didn’t know much more than that.

Well it turns out another blogger and friend of Buff Monster, by the name of Rob Heppler, of The Hundreds cred fame, spent some time at the (incredibly awesome) mural painting in downtown LA with Buff and his dad, and spent some time to share the story.

The story seems to cover a period over 20 years, involves an entrepreneurial hobby which included a fair amount of gold and silver trading, and what seems to be a sudden and irrational involvement of the US government in the past year including accusations of counterfeiting and domestic terrorism.

What this means now, is that Buff Monster’s 66 year-old dad, Bernard von NotHaus, has recently been found guilty on these charges in Spring 2011 and is facing a 22 year sentence.

I don’t know much about US politics and their respective acts, but from what Ive gathered it all seems a little irrational and extreme, considering the rather ‘innocent’ nature of it all.

Please read Rob’s own personal blog and account of the situation. Rob has stated he is hoping to document the whole unfortunate state of affairs, and hope that in some way it could help change and bring awareness to it’s current outcome. Please support if you feel you can.
