3AA 2012

Every year, the super rad toy company 3A, founded by Ashley Wood and co, release a pretty awesome membership pack to its loyal followers, known as the ‘Legion’.

The membership pack usually includes a variety of pretty sweet swag, and this year is no exception. For 2012 Ashley and the 3A team have put together a bundle that includes..

  • A one-size-fits-all baseball cap
  • A sweet embroided and pretty fat messenger bag
  • A super limited 3AA exclusive 1/6 figure
  • and a personalised printed membership card

The membership allows the holder a sweet 15% discount on ALL 3A sales that happen at their online store, Bambaland, as well as a 24 hour buying window on sales (which is otherwise limited to stock and demand limits with normal members). To me, that is one of the biggest sellers, as sometimes the sales happen at 9am Hong Kong time, which is usually a ridiculous time like 3am for myself. >.<
So to be able to have 24 hours to purchase and not have to endure a super early morning only to be greeted with server crashes, cart-jacks and general emo-ness, is a massive appeal!

But as far as the general membership package goes, its 80% decent! The figure is awesome and is one of the first ‘human’ like figures to have articulate fingers which you can often find only the more ‘robot-styled’ 3A figures. And being a fan of the more human styled characters and figures, is a massive win for me.

The bag is sick. From the pictures is does not look like one of your average ‘cheap freebie’ bags that you normally find bundled in ‘special editions’, but this bag looks thick and QUALITY. The 3A printed inner lining sealed the deal on slick-ness.

The only downside to the pack, is the cap. Im not a big cap person. Last year the package included a shirt, which I think is a safer option since everybody needs and wear t-shirts (unless you’re Jacob of course it would seem), while caps are more optional I find. I guess the downside about the shirts though, was the whole ‘sizing’ issue. So hard to pre-order a product and try and predict your size. I think a lot of people got upset when their shirts were unexpectedly too big or too small. This way 3A decided, screw it, you’re getting caps now. Haha. Don’t blame them I guess, though I would’ve still liked to have chanced my luck with a shirt size for a shirt that I will most likely always wear, if it fitted, than a cap which I will most likely never wear. But I guess you can’t please them all! So it’s a minor gripe in the bigger scheme of things.:)

And lastly, the 15% discount. If you are a fan of 3A, and buy their figs often, this whole membership will no doubt pay for itself VERY quickly.

So how much would you pay for such a package, which includes a super limited 1/6 figure (valued at $80), a limited embroided baseball cap (valued at around $20), a sick messenger bag (valued at around $50), and a membership card which grants 15% on all sales for the duration of 2012… $200? $300?
Nope.. This package would only set you back a super reasonable $180. AMA-ZING!

The sad news though, is that this blog post is a little late if all this had got you amped to be apart of the 3AA (3A Associates) membership deal as the 24hr sale period to secure your membership had just passed, on Jan 13th. :( So all those who grabbed the membership, congrats! But for all those that are new to the world of 3A, and this type of thing appeals to you, be sure to be there in line next Jan when membership for 2013 will open up.:)
