The Amazing(ly bad) Spider-Man First Action Figure

So some of you may be aware of the Marvel’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” film reboot that is planned to hit cinemas next year. We had a look at some of the early pics from the movie just a few days back, and it’s looking fairly promising!
Though with every super-hero action movie, comes the licensed toys kids(and adults, mind you!) want to buy and collect to relive their favourite Spidey moments, and this Spider-Man movie adaption will be no different! Though I wish I could be as excited about the toys as I am about the movie…
USA Today were the first to announce and reveal the first action figure of the Marc Webb directed, The Amazing Spider-Man, movie and it is meant to represent the Spider-Man character from the film, with his new styled suit and all. And all I can say to that is, WHAT. THE. FU…..
Look at it. It’s goddamn *AWFUL*. What is going on there!?
I haven’t recently been a big fan of the new suit that will appear in the film, but I’ve slowly started to appreciate it. Like how, in the official photos from the set, you can see how the front Spider insignia on the front of the chest plays a big part of the front design of the suit, with its sharp and sleek lines.
This toy, however, completely TRASHES that sleek style. I honestly have no idea what is going on with the suit design on this figure.
But hey, there is SOME good, at least the pres release will have you believe..
Featuring 20 points of articulation, the movie costume version of Andrew Garfield’s Spidey features a metallic finish with a special golden tint to the eyes that is said to change depending on how the light hits them.
Woop.

OK, sure, maybe I’m getting ahead of myself here and spending too much energy bashing a $5 kids action figure, but I don’t know when last I’ve been nauseated from a licensed toy product, especially from one of my favourite comic characters.
Can’t wait till we get the guys from Hot Toys to put their magic on the character, especially with the near 100% awesomeness that was their Rami’s Spider-Man 3 Hot Toys figure.
If the toy’s pictures haven’t put you off yet, and by some miraculous reason you’re still reading this far, you may view more pics of the plastic abomination below. Else, if you’re heading down to San Diego, you can check out the figure in person at Hasbro’s display booth on the convention floor.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
