The Given’s Mickey Piece for Play Imaginative x Disney Custom Show

Local custom toy artist, Abe Viljoen aka The Given, has given us a glimpse of his Mickey piece he has designed for the Play Imaginative x Disney custom show that he has been invited to contribute towards.

The Given said this about the show..

I was very happy to be invited to be involved with this custom show, as I actually have a love for old school cartoon characters like Mickey Mouse. Naturally I had to go with the vintage colour scheme and what is fast becoming my calling card with the added gold.

The custom is titled “The House of Mouse” and features a custom helmet, as well as bullet band and custom grenades.

As always, we are super excited to see our local South African talent making their mark and appearances in international toy shows. And we wish Abe much success with his piece when it’s unveiled with the rest of the world’s best efforts sometime this year!

Cris Rose’s Robotones Series - Valentine Pink

Continuing his monthly Robotone series, Cris Rose has dropped the second colour in the series this month, aptly titled Valentine Pink.

If you missed what these are about, Cris has began a series of single colour resin figures which will be released monthly - a colour for every month over the course of 2012. Every colour will be somewhat related to the month in question, with last month seeing the release of January Blues, and February being the Valentine Pink colourway. 

They go on sale on the 7th of every month till the end of the month, or until stock lasts, and sell for $25 each. There are two different 3” styles to choose from, and if you can’t pick a specific style, they are cheap enough to grab both!;)

Get them now while you can! Even if it’s not for yourself, the pink colourway would make a sweet and cute Valentines day gift for that special someone in your life.:)

Huck Gee x Beast Brothers - Ivory Warrior Skullendario Azteca

RETAIL NKD NOZZEL AND QMPNT PAC 5 & 6

ThreeZero is about to release their retail version of the NKD NOZZEL, along with Qmpnt Pac 5 & 6.

The NKD NOZZEL figure is 6” tall and includes 3 sets of eye lenses, 2.0 arms, union suit with not so hidden tanto knife, and as always a removable helmet.

WIth the release we will see Qmpnt Pac 5 (Fr33dom Club), and Pac 6 (Fort Burnout).

Dark Knight Rises Statues and Busts

So some images of collectible 12” collectible figures and busts from the upcoming Dark Knight Rises movie has serviced on the web, from where I’m not entirely sure.

What we see though are some pretty decent representations of 3 of the main characters from the film, namely the villain Bane (Tom Hardy), the hero Batman (Christian Bale), and the new love interest, Catwoman (Anne Hathaway).

These give us a pretty good overall idea on the the designs of their standard ‘costumes’ in the film. Bane looks full on knuckles military, and Catwoman looking slinky and pretty hawt in those heels and body suit. Batman, well, he just looks like he’s in for a loooooooong day when Bane finally appears in Gotham town.

Overall they’re pretty decent. Not a HUGE fan of the Catwoman bust though. The face looks a little… off. Not sure if it’s the mask design, or if it’s rather poor representation of Anne Hathaway. Anyways, Bane looks surprisingly venomous and can’t wait to see him in full action this ‘American Summer’ when The Dark Knight Rises hits the theaters worldwide in July, along with these figures.

Hasbro Reveals Official ‘The Avengers’ Action Figures

Commercial toy producer, Hasbro, has revealed a little tease of their upcoming range of action figures based off Marvel’s May super-hero megathon movie, The Avengers.

The above images shows a taste of the whole Avengers team, including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow, battling it off against the movies villain, Loki, in the foreground of a battered city.

Hasbro states this specific line of figures will be 3 3/4 inches tall, and would consist of a series of around over 15 different figures in the series. With also a tease of a selection 6” figures titled the ‘Legends’ line.

I’m a Marvel fanboy, and am especially stoked for The Avengers coming out a little later this year, and these mini-figs are not to shabby..!

Simpson Creator Immortalised in Vinyl, by KidRobot

So this is a bit of pleasant surprise of a release by KidRobot! As you may know by now, KidRobot has already produced 2 successful series of 3” vinyl figures based on the iconic and popular American cartoon family, The Simpsons.

Turns out, The Simpsons is seeing their 500th episode in February 2012, and KidRobot is joining the celebrations by immortalising the series creator, Matt Groening, in 6” of lovely collectable vinyl! This is apparently a first that the successful cartoon creator has EVER been captured in a physical toy form, so it’s pretty exciting news to fans of the series! The figure comes with a pretty sweet directors jacket that has ‘The Simpsons’ printed on the back, along with a doodled sketch and pencil.

I am quite a fan of the television series, as well as the 3” series produced by KidRobot, as the cartoon characters transform pretty well on the 3” size. So its pretty much a given that this is a MUST OWN for me, as I’m sure MANY others out there.

KidRobot has stated that the figure is set to drop into collectors hands on February 9th (at participating KidRobot and speciality outlets) and will sell for $50/£40.
